The Chakra System: 7 chakras

The Seven Wheels of Light

The chakra system is a map of your consciousness within the body. These seven main energy centers, or “wheels of light,” run from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Each chakra governs specific physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your being. When they are balanced and spinning freely, life force flows harmoniously, and we experience health and well-being. When they are blocked or imbalanced, it can manifest as dis-ease in the body and distress in our lives.

A Journey Through the Chakras:

  • 1. Root Chakra (Muladhara): Located at the base of the spine. Color: Red. Governs: Survival, safety, grounding, physical identity. Imbalance can manifest as fear, anxiety, and financial instability.
  • 2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Located in the lower abdomen. Color: Orange. Governs: Emotions, creativity, sexuality, pleasure. Imbalance can lead to emotional instability, creative blocks, and addiction.
  • 3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Located in the upper abdomen. Color: Yellow. Governs: Personal power, self-esteem, confidence, will. Imbalance can manifest as low self-worth, control issues, and digestive problems.
  • 4. Heart Chakra (Anahata): Located in the center of the chest. Color: Green. Governs: Love, compassion, relationships, connection. Imbalance can lead to loneliness, grief, and an inability to give or receive love.
  • 5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Located at the throat. Color: Blue. Governs: Communication, self-expression, truth. Imbalance can manifest as fear of speaking, dishonesty, and thyroid issues.
  • 6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Located between the eyebrows. Color: Indigo. Governs: Intuition, imagination, wisdom, vision. Imbalance can lead to confusion, lack of clarity, and headaches.
  • 7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): Located at the top of the head. Color: Violet/White. Governs: Spirituality, connection to the divine, enlightenment, pure consciousness. Imbalance can manifest as disconnection, cynicism, and spiritual depression.

“Balancing your chakras is not about achieving perfection. It is a continuous, loving practice of listening to your body’s subtle energies and gently guiding them back to harmony.”
